The Graham Center Art Gallery was established to...
Provide a venue for students of the FIU Art &
Art History Department to display their artwork in a gallery setting. Provide FIU Visual Arts students with the experience in operating and administering a gallery, as well as scheduling, organizing, publicizing, installing and lighting exhibitions, and coordinating opening receptions.
The Graham Center Art Gallery annually sponsors juried student shows. Additionally, the gallery has also sponsored faculty, alumni, visiting artist exhibitions, theme and collaborative shows, incoming MFA candidates, Visual Arts scholarship recipients, community outreach exhibits in conjunction with Miami-Dade Public Schools and a traveling exhibit of the art of the Maori tribe of New Zealand.

In the fall of 1994, two events coincided which ultimately resulted in the establishment of the Graham Center Art Gallery... One was the rebirth of the Fine Arts Student Association (F.A.S.A) and the other was a major remodeling of the Graham Center. Past frustrations with the lack of facilities for showing the work of student artists led the members of F.A.S.A. to propose the inclusion of a gallery space in Graham Center’s remodeling plans. Through the combined efforts of F.A.S.A., the FIU Visual Arts Department, and the Graham Center the GC Gallery Committee was formed to lay the groundwork for the operation of the exhibition space. F.A.S.A. assumed responsibility for the day-to-day operation of the gallery. In September 1996, the Graham Center Art Gallery opened with the First-Juried F.A.S.A. exhibit. Since then, the Gallery has maintained a year-round schedule of art exhibits. The GC Gallery hopes to secure a larger, permanent space specifically designed to include three dimensional art, performance, new media, installations, artist lectures and workshops. The Graham
Center Art Gallery will maintain its year-round schedule aimed at providing
varied exhibitions of the highest quality and its commitment to providing the
FIU Visual Arts Students with a venue that can facilitate dialogue with the
larger FIU community.
